Silver Jewelry
Silver jewelry is a less expensive option than gold. Silver is more abundant than gold, and has a white luster that gold naturally lacks. Some don’t look good in gold, and others simply cannot afford it. Regardless of your reasons, you can own a silver piece of jewelry for a fraction of the price of a comparable gold piece. In fact, you can get several large pieces of silver jewelry for the same price as a small gold one.
Silver jewelry is also easier to work than gold jewelry. Silver has a lowing smelting temperature, which makes it easier to cast. While gold is more ductile and less reactive to normal atmospheric influences, silver’s availability makes up for many shortcomings. After all, it doesn’t matter how pretty a piece is if you can’t afford it.
Silver is also less formal than gold, so if you want a relaxed look, it is perfect for that. One thing to watch for with silver jewelry is tarnishing however. Tarnish is a chemical reaction that happens between the surface of silver jewelry and compounds in the air (or water) around it. It manifests in a dull grey-black coating on the metal. It can be removed, but it means that silver jewelry does have some maintenance attached to it.
